About The Guru

Thirupurasundari began her journey in Carnatic music at the age 10 under the mentorship of Shri N.V. Subramaniam, founder of Saraswathi Vaggeyakara Trust, Chennai. She had the privilege of learning krithis from Shri Thiruvengadu A. Jeyaraman and received continuous training under several experienced gurus in her locality, building a strong foundation in vocal performance and theory. Later trained at SIFAS, Singapore under eminent gurus including Shrimathi M.S. Vidya, Shri N.R. Prashanth. Currently pursuing advanced training from Dr. Smt. Prema Rangarajan, Chennai. focusing on manodharma and learning rare krithis, especially of Shri Muthuswamy Dikshithar and Shri Shyama Shastri.

In addition to a Diploma in Carnatic Music, Thirupurasundari holds academic degrees in Mathematics and Business Administration and was a topper in IIT Madras’ NPTEL course on Carnatic music. 

Since 2019, Thirupurasundari has been imparting training to beginner and intermediate students and has served as faculty at Kalamanjari, Singapore. She is a regular performer with the SIOC, while also guiding the SIYOC as instructor and assistant conductor. Her performances span temple festivals, cultural programmes, television (MediaCorp Vasantham, SunTV,Jayatv,VijayTV)& digital productions in both Singapore and Chennai. Thirupurasundari was a Top 20 contestant on Super Singer Season 4 (Star Vijay) has also featured in several collaborations on the popular digital music series Quarantine from Reality (QFR), earning wide appreciation for her versatility. She has shared prestigious stages with luminaries such as KS Chithra and Unni Menon, establishing herself as both a versatile soloist and a valued collaborator in the Indian classical music community.
